Lucy is a Registered Massage Therapist through the Massage Therapists Association of Nova Scotia. Her journey to becoming an RMT likely started when she was very young. Having trained in ballet from the ages of 4 to 15, she became very interested in anatomy and body mechanics. She has now returned to practicing ballet as an adult with Cadance Academy.
Since graduating from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in May of 2017 she has developed her own unique style and approach to massage therapy. During school she received further training while practicing in two specialized clinic placements, one in chronic pain and arthritis treatment, and the other in pre and post natal massage. Her post graduate training so far includes an advanced course in treating jaw dysfunction, myofascial cupping therapy, jade stone massage and Indian ayurvedic head massage, to name a few. Her approach to treatment is guided by compassionate listening and thereby garnering the ability to tailor a treatment to meet your exact needs.
Her interests and hobbies in aromatherapy, yoga practice and ballet help further her passion for massage therapy, as well as other complementary professions. She believes in a holistic approach, taking into consideration all aspects of a person and their lifestyle. To fully practice holistically, she believes in recommendations to other health professionals when needed or possible. She is very passionate when it comes to educating her patients, whether it be about homecare, posture, safety and ergonomics, or keeping them well informed on her observations about their body and plans for treatments. This passion carries over when it comes to her own education, as she’s always ready to learn new techniques and treatments to be able to help more people.

MASSAGE THERAPY TREATMENT TECHNIQUES
These massage techniques are intuitively combined in your booked appointment to help you reach your treatment goals. Techniques used will be discussed prior to treatment.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Trigger point therapy works to release referral patterns of pain that can spread to numerous areas of the body. Through sustained pressure, repetitive massage, hydrotherapy and stretching these pain patterns can be diminished and eventually eliminated.
GENERAL SWEDISH MASSAGE
Long, broad, sweeping strokes applied to increase circulation, reduce pain, release muscle tension and reduce inflammation.
JOINT PLAY AND RANGE OF MOTION
Low grade joint manipulations and range of motion techniques are utilized to increase range of motion, reduce restrictions and reduce pain.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE AND FRICTIONS
A dry method of releasing the connective tissue that surrounds muscle, bone, joints and organs. A deep technique that allows for greater range of motion, reduced scar tissue, lengthening of muscle and nerve tissue.
The use of temperature to affect tissue response. This can be applied with gel packs to reduce inflammation, thermofore to increase circulation or contrast for chronic injury. All are applied with the intent to promote healing. Infra red sauna also available for booking.
A combination of techniques that help reduce spasm, pain and induce deep feelings of relaxation. This can include vibrational techniques, rocking, shaking and rhythmical movement.
Reduce swelling and inflammation due to edema, injury or surgery. A lightly applied technique that works to drain from the extremity to the lymphatic terminal in the neck.
INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE
East Indian medicine, Ayurveda, guides this treatment. The upper back, shoulders, upper arms, upper chest, neck, head and face are massaged using a blend of sesame, coconut, and olive oils.
This technique involves using plastic or silicone “cups” which are applied to the surface of the skin. A pump is used to create suction, thereby lifting tissue. This technique is used for its ability to increase circulation and reduce fascial adhesions.
JADE STONE MASSAGE
Prized in massage therapy for their smoothness and superior ability to hold set temperature. Can be applied hot or cold depending on presentation of injury.
PRE/POST NATAL MASSAGE
A treatment tailored specifically to the safety and needs of pre/post natal clients - includes proper pillowing and supports.
INTRA ORAL RELEASE FOR TMJ DYSFUNCTION
Focuses on treating jaw dysfunction. Typically this displays as pain, clicking and trouble moving the jaw. Treatment applied to the face and intra-orally. All protective equipment and precautions taken.
